RP's Interview of the week

This week's 9 questions interview will feature River Plato's last man Mr. Vedran Narancic. (June 24, 2003)

Where you from originally and where did you started to play soccer?"

Ok... I was born in Mostar, Yugoslavia (now Bosnia)
and I started playing soccer here in
Canada at the age of
12

For what club? And how was your 1st experience playing with a team?

I played for at that time U12 Ching. And I really did not know what to expect since I never really played competitive soccer but once I played couple of games I grew with the game.

As a young kid in Europe who was your favourite team and what player did you looked up too?

As a very young kid I looked up to the captain Dragan Stojkovic at that time of a very good team Red Star

Please take the time to guide us through some of the places, teams, players that you have played with and tell us what are some of the most beautiful moments that you have experienced playing soccer in Canada competitive as well as for fun?

Well, I started with Ching at the age of 12, at the age of 14 I switched to Brampton, at age 16 I believe I went back to Ching., at the age of 18 I ended up back at Brampton.. And now recently I am playing for Brampton East and River PLato.  Some great memories ahh wining the
Ontario Cup, wining the Laval Quebec Tour. ahh runner up in Minnesota "The US Cup" and most of all playing for those teams had great fun and one of the players that I played with since the age of 12 is currently on our River team Jason Skyers. Outside the competitive soccer all the fun was at the "Beer Store Soccer" hahahahah

If you can describe yourself in a couple of words, what kind of player do you consider yourself to be?

Well all my soccer career I have played Central Midfield so I consider myself being a creative, playmaking type of player, never really scored a lot of goals but sure did set up some nice ones but now I play last man back and I have got used to my new position.

Now with River Plato, how do you find your new team? And what are some of the objectives that you have with this club for this 2003 season?

Coming to this team and knowing that I will be playing a new position as well as some other players who had to make adjustments, and being a fresh team with not too much experience I didnt know what to expect but as we started the season every player on the team is getting better with every game and I really think that we can win this season and to be honest that did not look good at the beginning but with every team, it needs time for everything to fall into its place , I believe that River will be on top this season.

Being the last man for this club gives you the advantage of having the entire perspective of the team during games... in your opinion what are some of the key points this team has and what are some of the concerns that we must fix in order to become a serious contender this season?

Being the last man back does give me an advantage, and with River I think we have some great goal scoring ability and the defence can stand their ground but what we need to fix is some position adjustments and couple more players signing with the club to add some squad dept, because we are lacking subs. but overall the team stands in good shape and have showed that we can win even if the momentum is against us

If you had to describe the chemistry of this team in a few words, what would you say?

I would have to say that if we keep positive attitude and play our game the way we did in all our games so far I think that this teams chemistry is working great

Fan of Ching or Bramp?"

Ching.

A message for the season?

Even when we are losing keep your heads up!!!!

Last question....
Fan of World United Jrs or River Plato?

Hahaha... World United Jrs was fun but I would have to say River

Thank you Vedran for taking the time to talk to us and all the best for this 2003 season

No problem

River Plato is alive!!!

Toronto - River Plato was re-instated to the LHFA 2003 summer season earlier today. The decision was based by LHFA officials after a 2 hour meeting with Plato's new President and General manager Mr. Miguel Meza.

The conditions of the deal was for the club to pay at least 50% of their debt by Wednesday July 2nd of 2003. By incorporating Mr. Meza to the club this allowed LHFA officials to once again provide the first year club with the credibility that they initially lost do to some negligence caused by their ex-President and some of the club's players.

In other words River will reamain playing in second division but only if they keep paying the rest of the debt on a weekly bases.

We cought on with Mr. Meza and the message to the team was the following... "What we need to do now is simply demand from the individuals who agreed on contributing with the team from the begining to pay now or else simply leave the club for good."

River's next schedule game will be posted here on the site and also on the Spanish newpaper "El Popular" this Wednesday.

River Plato 2003 "Model"

We just spoke with the "new" 2003 coaching staff, and we ask them many questions in relation with this season, some of the main concerns are the following...

What kind of strategy will River Plato use this season?

Unlike most of the teams in L.H.F.A who play excessively defensibly in search for valuable points during season after season. My perspective is very different to the ones applied by the rest of the squads, what I am looking for is simply to pressure our opponents until they drop and for that we need our team to be in optimal physical condition.

What will be River Plato's formation like this year?

Simple, a solid (3 4 3), that will allow us to perform in our opponents half most of the time. By having 3 defensemens acting in line, 4 midfielders two acting as stoppers and two as the conductors of the team by generating a more offensive role, and 3 forwards with the capacity of finishing a game at any given time.

In your opinion can River Plato be champion with this young team?

That is the main reason why I am here, after spending some time with the base of the team, I can say that even though this team is very young we have enough to be a contender for this season and win everything. Otherwise I would of pass on the opportunity to coach this team once again.
